In fact we came to Switzerland as immigrants. Nevertheless we are God's children and feel a strong desire to pray for Switzerland. We don't only want to enjoy the pleasant things that Switzerland offers but also be a blessing to this country.
Indeed the apostle Paul asks us to pray for the country in which we live:
"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior" (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
Furthermore God tells us to seek His face to ensure that peace prevails in our country:
"At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or I might command locusts to devour your crops, or I might send plagues among you. Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forget their sins and heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:13-14).
That's why we always pray for Switzerland in our prayer meetings. It is our wish that other immigrant churches launch their own prayer groups that pray for Switzerland.
God bless Switzerland!
